Spotlight: Core

Past Tense Alley • January 27th from 1-3pm

This workshop is part of a quarterly Spotlight series in which Rachel provides a deep dive into different muscle groups/areas of the body.

In this workshop, we will learn about the musculature of all four sides of the core and how to strengthen it in a balanced way to support our movement and every day lives. Come prepared to play and explore:

  • How to strengthen the deep core muscles that stabilize the spine and help protect it
  • How to strengthen the core muscles that move the spine
  • How to integrate awareness of the core into everything we do to empower and power us up!

This workshop is appropriate for all levels.

A Season of Becoming Spring Yoga Retreat

Blue Mountain Retreat Center, Knoxville, MD • May 24th-27th, 2024

Join me Memorial Day Weekend for a 3 night yoga retreat that is 4 years overdue! During this weekend in the woods, we will create a sacred space to nourish and embrace our whole selves through an exploration of what it means to be constantly evolving and becoming more and more authentic. Yoga, meditation, journaling, time in nature, and community building will pave the way towards balancing acceptance and growth, embodying our life’s path, and cultivating patience with change, uncertainty, and paradox.

I jumped at the chance to go on a retreat with Rachel. I am picky about where to spend my yoga time and money, but I didn't hesitate to sign up because Rachel is a non-judgmental, size and ability inclusive instructor. The retreat was low pressure, with time to be alone or with the group as I chose (and some mandatory alone time, which was great). The classes were varied and well paced and the activities Rachel chose to complement the yoga rounded out the weekend perfectly. By the end, I felt refreshed in body and spirit. I attended the last retreat before the pandemic and can't wait until the next one!
